The I Read for Life (IRFL) program offers tutoring for children from 4 years old through high school. All sessions are full of life, fun and games. Therefore, the children enjoy learning.  This is the key to improving your child's reading and math skills!

What is the registration process?

  • First, there is a consultation with the parents

  • Evaluation of the student's level of performance 

  • Review of the evaluation results with the parents and discussion of the child's needs 

  • Placement of the child in program

How many times per week would my child attend tutoring sessions?

  • The number of weekly one-hour sessions recommended is determined by the results of the evaluation tests and parent/guardian input. 

  • One session per week is not an option as progress is extremely slow.

 

What types of tutoring does IRFL provide?

  • Reading - the fundamentals of decoding the written word using our method of speech sound associated with the letter-symbol

  • Comprehension 

  • English composition

  • Language/grammar

  • Handwriting

  • Speaking

  • Math from K to grade 8

What would a typical session look like?

 A typical session would include variations of the following activities:

  • Songs and auditory perception activities

  • Video / flashcard presentation

  • Counting / math games / problem solving

  • Phonics games

  • A story from the Land of Make Believe

  • Workbook activities from the I Read For Life program; each activity reinforces one sound symbol and letter symbol relationship.

How are IRFL services offered?

  • One-to-one instruction

  • 2 - 3 students in a group

  • In person tutoring at the IRFL Center subject to Covid-19 restrictions

  • Distance learning via Zoom
